Youth Build Nepal -A Conscious Political Leadership Training Leadership ProgramReviving the Dream of Democracy
A 5-Day Conscious Public Leadership Training
LDP # 5
The Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Youth Build Nepal leadership training is to question ourselves
deeply and examine the status quo for cracks so that, together, we can lay a
firm foundation for the future of democracy in Nepal. We are at a time in Nepalese
history when resignation is rampant. Together, we must find our way out of the
paralysis of polarized politics that has so many of us despair, knowing there
must be a better way of wisdom in our democracy, inherent in the structures
the founders created, that can produced solutions way beyond what the left or
right have to offer.
The intention of this training is to transform despair into possibility and
optimism. National Institute for Leadership Development's (NILD) intention is
to enable the future leaders to transform their dreams into every day reality
and show them how each political cadre or leader can make a greater difference
in our government. If we want to remain effective in these changing times, we
must be willing to learn what it takes for us to make a major shift from fear
to hope as every country aspiring to a higher level of democratic norms and
values passes through the four stages of political evolution: Anarchy to Traditionalism
(two-party war) to Political Resignation, and finally to Stage Four-Conscious
Public Leadership or Politics of Hope, when we join the greatest leaders of
humanity, by putting we before me. It is then that our political life reflects
the spirit of cooperation, mutual inspiration, and unwavering concern for the
collective good.
Course Objectives
• To have the future public leaders inquire into the nature of being
of human beings so as to enable them to realize their true self.
• To have the future public leaders express their dissatisfaction, confusion,
uncertainties and acknowledge the breakdowns in our political system so as to
empower them to declare their stand to fulfill the dream of reviving democracy
in Nepal.
• Amidst anger, fear and grief these future leaders truly realize that
it is their spirit that keeps going as long as there is hope, a hope that is
mature enough to make their new collective political vision a reality—enabling
the country to evolve into a more inclusive and conscious culture.
• To have them inquire and understand what leadership is and what it takes
for them to evolve from a hierarchical, domination-centered leadership to a
more conscious, open and collaborative model.
• To instill in them the confidence in applying new knowledge, skills,
and attitudes by
Cultivating a radical new level of patience, steadiness to prepare for unknown
opportunities.
